Disability Support

  • The University of Liverpool Disability Support Team

The Disability Support Team at the University are the main point of contact for any current or prospective disabled students in need of advice. The team provides support and advice to students with a wide range of impairments. This can include, but is not limited to:

 

 

 

• Visual impairment/person who is blind 
• Hearing impairment/person who is deaf
 

• Mobility impairment 
• Medical conditions which may be long term or 
 progressive (e.g. epilepsy, chronic fatigue syndrome) 
• Mental Health difficulties

 

 The service provides advice and support to a large number of students with specific learning difficulties, which can include:
• Dyslexia 
• Dyspraxia  
• Dyscalculia 
• Autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) e.g. Asperger's
 Syndrome.

Emotional Support

Finances

 

  • The University of Liverpool Financial Support Team 

    FST are part of Student Support Services.  The Team deals with applications for financial assistance from the Access to Learning Fund (ALF) and the Additional Fee Support Scheme (AFSS).

    We also advise on statutory funding such as student loans, grants and tuition fees, as well as other types of discretionary funding such as University bursaries and scholarships.  Advice is also offered on budgeting, money management, debt, welfare benefits, and how repeat years will affect statutory funding.

    The office is open from 9.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Thursday, and 9.00am to 4.00pm on Friday.  There are regular drop-in sessions (appointments may also be available), which will be advertised at the reception desk and on this website, or you can telephone 0151 794 5863 for details. 

Health

 

 

We have a Student Health Service on campusoffers a comprehensive medical and nursing service to students from 8:30am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday*. The doctors can by consulted by appointment and nurses are available for advice, dressings, holiday vaccinations etc. All the doctors provide full contraceptive services and advice including emergency contraception and free condoms.

The Student Health Service is run by Brownlow Medical.

* Opening hours are 8:30am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday, except Wednesday 12:00noon to 2:00pm and the third Wednesday of each month from 12:00noon onwards. The Service is closed on Bank Holidays.

Housing

  • The Citizen's Advice Bureau

Offers free advice regarding debt, benefits, housing, discrimination, employment, immigration, consumer and other problems to everyone. They offer advice face to face, or via telephone or email but the website is the best place to start when looking for the closest service to you. Endsleigh Insurance

 Endsleigh have just launched a new landlords insurance product which gives student landlords 10% discount

Mental Health

The University runs a Mental Health Advice, Support and Information Service.

Lindsay Pendleton, Mental Health Adviser, is located on the ground floor of the Student Services Building, 150 Mount Pleasant, Liverpool.

She is generally available between 9.00 am - 5.00 pm, or 8.30 am - 4.30 pm.
