► Progression to Higher Education

Full Text from the Consultation Document

15.       Progression to Higher Education

15.1    One way to improve the experience of undergraduate students is to help as much as possible with their progression to higher education, irrespective of age or learning background.  There are numerous ways to do this, but one process which can be embedded into the process of reviewing our curricula is to ensure, where possible, that curricula and the learning and teaching experience complement the ‘A’ Levels, 14-19 Diplomas, professional/technical qualifications, the International Baccalaureate, Access programmes and other qualifications that students have gained.  Where possible, we need to be aware of what types of assessment and learning processes students have been exposed to, although how we react to this information will vary from discipline to discipline.

15.2    It is proposed that, where appropriate and possible, information about the syllabus and curricula of entry qualifications be taken into account when reviewing our undergraduate.

Officers Opinions

  • The officers agree with all of the above, whilst reminding the university that this proposal should also consider widening participation students, and how they are inducted into the educational aspect of the student experience at the University of Liverpool, and what support they may need (if any) due to their background.
