ACE Africa
 
To raise awareness of the key issues which ACE Africa supports and offer financial help to aid such issues. ACE Africa supports communities in East Africa affected by HIV/AIDS, especially vulnerable children and orphans. The group will aim to raise money to help support the charity’s projects and to increase awareness of the effects of HIV

And so the University of Liverpool Liberal Democrat Society exists to champion the same principles as outlined in the preamble to the Liberal Democrat constitution whilst increasing awareness of the party an our policies, and recruiting, young, like-minded activists to take part in campaigning in both the University of Liverpool and the wider Liverpool community. 
 
As a branch of Liberal Youth (The Youth and Student Branch of the Liberal Democrats) we will also have opportunities to shape our party, which gives us a chance to have a direct impact on the politics of the country.

Our group has been set up since January 2010 to encourage academic debates about inclusion and exclusion in Merseyside as well as aiming to achieve benefits both for the postgraduate research environment, and for the wider Merseyside community. It will establish a process of knowledge exchange with the aim of connecting academic research and thought with the contemporary social environment and related issues within the surrounding communities by encouraging community involvement. It will generate both interdisciplinary discussion across postgraduate researchers at the University of Liverpool and bridge communication between universities in the region and with members of the local community. This will enhance and improve relationships between the universities and the community by breaking down the existing barriers in achieving effective knowledge exchange.

a. Involvement in performance of public re-enactments of Battles, Sieges and other events of the period with a view to educating the public and encouraging an interest in our heritage.
 
b. Involvement and attendance to discussions or lectures, the publishing of books and the making of documentaries of the period.

Our current Sociology Department is without a Student Society, although one has been set up before, it was not successful. In the forthcoming year we hope to set up the society once and for all to give all current and perspective students a group to be a part of, a way of meeting new people on the same course and in the department and a place to have fun
 
 
 
Student Action for Refugees (STAR)
 
To raise awareness of issues concerning asylum seekers and refugees and provide support to refugees and asylum seekers in the local community

The aim is to run educational outreach projects to create better economic opportunities for our communities on a local and international scale. The aim is also to train our members to become leaders and engage with the community and make a real difference in the lives of others. Students also get the chance to represent the university and compete at national competitions coupled with networking events with leading companies in the world today. This SIFE Programme gives students the opportunity to use what they learn in the classroom and apply them to real world challenges.

To improve XJTLU students conditions of life in UK by enabling or assisting them to participate in the intellectual, social, and other activities of, or connected with UoL. Hence, to enhance the experience of XJTLU students life at Liverpool.

Yoga & Meditation
 
We aim to offer an introduction to mediation, and some basic yoga exercises. We also plan to discuss the concepts and philosophy behind yoga.

To allow people from degrees zoology, ecology and marine biology to meet other students of similar interests, gain information in volunteering and conservation work in the Merseyside area and to join in on trips and socials.
