Your Committee

As a guild activity group, we aim to represent you, the student, on LGBT issues, however we also aim to lead the way in the wider community, with the other universities, on matters that affect you, LGBT people in Liverpool and those nation wide.

On the committee, we have;

Helen - LGBT Co-Chair

Hi, I’m Helen and I’m currently in my 3rd year of Psychology. I liked being a General Rep last year, and it made me want to increase my involvement in the society, this year. I enjoy meeting new people, being involved in LGBT welfare and issues and being able to take more of a role within the LGBT community. For me, one of the main things I’d like to focus on within the society is to provide a variety of socials (both alcoholic & non-alcoholic), regularly, throughout the year. I also want a society where members feel that they have a committee who are there for them should they need them to be, being committed to the welfare of our members.

Andrew - LGBT Co-Chair

Hey, I’m Andrew, and I’m one of this years' awesome co-chairs. I am in my second year studying Aerospace Engineering with Pilot Studies. I believe that anyone can have the power to change the world and I am making a start with helping to run this society. Too much suffering is caused by homophobia, so I have made it this society's mission to provide a safe, fun environment for like-minded people to meet each other, to stand together campaigning for their rights, and most importantly, to lend a hand in support for when everything can get a bit too much. We are here for you. When I’m not hard at work doing difficult sums or having committee meetings, I enjoy flying planes, writing music and eating out at places I really can’t afford!

Richard - Secretary

Emily - Lesbian and Social Representative

Hello! I’m Emily and I’m your Lesbian Rep for this year. The reason I joined the LGBT committee is because I love to meet new people and I just wanted to get involved and help out. I’m friendly and approachable so if you ever need someone to talk to don’t be shy :)

Martin - Gay and Social Representative

Hey I'm Martin I'm studying Anatomy and Human Biology. I have lived in Liverpool all of my life so I am very fimilar with the city and I am never to far away from anyone who is living in the city. I joined LGBT becaues I wanted to become friends with similar minded people and to develope my understanding of my own sexuality. If you ever need a chat about anything then I'll be more than happy to help.

Tammy - Female Bisexual Representative

George - Male Bisexual and Welfare Representative

Hi I'm George. I'm a second year geology student and male bisexuality rep, and one of the two welfare reps. I was involved with the society last year and joined the committee this year to keep up with my gay friends and make some new ones, as welfare rep I'm here to help anyone who's having issues with their sexuality, gender or being targeted because of it. If theres something you feel strongly about to do with LGBT issues get in contact and I'll try to help.

Maki - Trans Representative

Mat - General and Campaigns Representative

I'm Mat the general/campaigns rep, I am a second year biomed student, gay and have an awesome boyfriend last year I made a lot of friends through the LGBT Society, in fact I'm now living with two of those said friends, one being George out current Welfare Rep (who is a elligable bachelor just fyi) so i'm really excited to get to play a more active role within the society this year and I think new members can get whatever they like from the society, whether its drunken nights in Gay Town or running campaigns (and i will be looking for help with that!!)

Jo - General Representative

Hi, I'm Jo and I'm an LGBT General Rep this year. I'm a fourth year medic, so for anyone worrying about mixing their workload with a great social life, don't worry, it can be done! I'm really passionate about getting the LGBT and our community's issues better known and understood: there are so many people who don't even know we exist, let alone know what our name stands for.
I think coming to uni for the first time can be terrifying, especially if you're struggling to work out who you are and who you like; but it can also be a brilliant experience, a chance to get away from home and make a new set of friends, and really become yourself. And obviously, to have a bangin time!

Mike - General Representative

Hi, I’m Mike, pleased to meet you. =]
I am a third year psychology student. I was Gay rep last year, but stood down to let some new blood in, so this year I am a general rep =]
I live on the Wirral which is just across the river from Liverpool so I’m nearby by all year round. I would describe myself as being reserved but sociable once you get to know me. I enjoy reading and adore the Sookie Stackhouse novels (Trueblood to some of you) as well as many other books! I hope to bring some good ideas to the society and participate as much as possible. Feel free to chat to me and share any ideas you may have. =]
