Advice - academic
The Guild has a full time Academic Adviser who is able to offer advice and support on a whole range of academic related issues. To make an appointment please contact the Base either in person or on 0151 794 6868.

Advice – financial
The Financial Support Team, a University run department, is located in the Student Services Centre, 150 Mount Pleasant. They provide advice on: welfare benefits and tax credits, debt advice, student loans/grants. www.liv.ac.uk/studentsupport/finance
These can be purchased either online from arrivabus.co.uk or from the Guild Shop – you will need a passport sized photograph to affix to the card. At present passes cost:

Stolen or lost cards can be replaced at a cost of £25. You will need to:
Report your card as lost or stolen to a Police Station – you will receive a lost property/crime reference.
Telephone Arriva on 0844 800 44 11 pass on your details crime/lost property report number – you can pay the £25 over the telephone with a debit/credit card, or post a cheque payable to Arriva.
The Halls of Residence and University campus are serviced by the 699 bus. Other routes connecting popular student areas are the 86 which runs along Smithdown Road, and the 79 which serves Picton and Wavertree Road.
Arriva bus timetables can be found in either the Harold Cohen/Sydney Jones Libraries or in the Foundation Building. For further information on Arriva bus services please visit www.arrivabus.co.uk.
Only one particular type of calculator can be used during University examinations, and this carries the University crest. These can be purchased from the Guild shop and are currently priced £8.49. Please note that if you have the same make/model of calculator, but it does not have the University crest, you will NOT be allowed to take it into the examination room.

The Careers & Employability service is located on the first floor of building number 502 which is attached to the Guild with the entrance being found on Mount Pleasant. They are open Mon-Fri (10am – 4.30pm) during term times. Alternatively, the Careers Express can be found in the Courtyard of the Guild where they offer information on how to find out about job vacancies, book for events and get your CV reviewed without an appointment. It's open Monday to Friday 11am - 2pm (3pm on Wednesday). For more information visit www.liv.ac.uk/careers.
The nearest cash machine is located in the RBS within the Guild. Others can be found at:
Barclays bank on Brownlow Hill near Blackwells Bookstore
HSBC, Nationwide & NatWest banks on Oxford Street near Mulberry Court.
The Guild’s commercial outlets also provide a cash back service
There is a computer room in the Guild building with a printer available for use on the first floor. Go up the stairs opposite the base, turn right and go through the double doors to the left. Turn right down the corridor and the computer room is on the right. Any problems with the computers or printers should be reported to the Computing Services Dept. directly.
Other computer rooms can be found in the Harold Cohen & Sydney Jones libraries or in the academic buildings.
Tickets for concerts at the Guild are available to purchase either via the Base, which is situated on the ground floor of the Venue, and is open between 9am and 5 pm, or via the lgos.org website.
Access to concerts is normally restricted to over 14’s unless otherwise stated. Please note under 18’s must be accompanied by an adult.
Tickets are non refundable unless the gig is cancelled/rescheduled.
A £1.50 booking fee is applied to each ticket purchased at the Base via a non student/University staff member
Tickets purchased via our website are not available for collection until the actual night of the event.
Pay and display car parking is available at the rear of the venue in the Peach Street Car Park for those attending gigs or to the side of the venue in the Mount Pleasant Car Park. See section on visitor’s car parking below.

We are open 9am – 11pm Monday – Friday during University term time.
During the vacation our hours are 9am – 6.00pm subject to occasional variance
There is a Hairdresser located in the Basement, in the entrance to the Ladies toilets.

New students can register with a doctor at Student Health which is situated at the rear of the Guild building.
HC1 forms are available from the Base as well as Student Health – these can be used to claim back prescription costs.
Opticians – there are no opticians on site but many of the larger chains can be found within the city centre. There are also several practices on Allerton Road close to the Halls of residence.
Emergency Dental Treatment – patients can queue at the Royal Liverpool Dental Hospital on Pembroke Place, 0151 706 5253, from 8am where they will be given a ticket for treatment. Large numbers queuing. Alternatively contact NHS Direct on 0845 4647.
Lost property found in the Guild or nearby is usually handed into the Base. Where possible the Base will contact individuals by phone or e-mail to inform them of any lost property.
Information can be found at Jobcentre Plus, the nearest one being in Williamson Square, city centre.
Cards currently cost either £10 or £11 subject to you taking the option to add ISIC, and are available to purchase at the Base or via www.nusextra.co.uk
If applying online you will need to have a jpeg image of yourself that you can attach to your application. Photos for ‘in person’ applications are taken via webcam at the Base
The nearest post office is located on Brownlow Hill near Blackwell’s Bookstore. It is within the Spar Shop and there is a post box just outside.
The nearest phone box to The Guild is located on Oxford Street (Near the banks/shops).
There are two photo booths situated in the foyer of the Guild building, outside the Mountford Hall
The Guild does not have any photocopying facilities or fax machines available for use by students. The nearest photocopiers are located in the Harold Cohen/Sydney Jones libraries. A fax machine and photocopier is also available in the Spar shop located on Brownlow Hill near Blackwell’s Bookstore.
The Muslim Prayer room is situated in the Basement of Reilly Building within the Guild and is a facility available to both staff and students. It is primarily used by the Islamic Society. Directions:
· Go to the end of the corridor facing the Base
· Through the room next to the Gilmour Bar and out the double doors at the back, down the spiral staircase.
· There are separate prayer rooms for both men and women.

Print credits for campus computers can be purchased online (http://www.liv.ac.uk/csd/printing/index.htm) using a credit or debit card, or from the print credit vending machines located in the Sydney Jones and Harold Cohen Libraries and on the first floor in the Brownlow Hill Building (vending machines accept coins only).
Railcards can be purchased at Lime Street Station in the city centre.

Room bookings for the Guild are made through the Guild website at www.lgos.org/roombooking
You need to book on behalf of a Guild Activity Group in order to qualify for free room bookings. Please note charges may apply for bookings requiring technical facilities.
All society membership is through the www.lgos.org website. To join a society/activity group:
· Register with lgos.org
· Go to www.lgos.org/membership
· Enter username and personal details
· Click which groups you wish to join
· Proceed to checkout
· You can pay online or at the Base. If you wish to pay at the Base please bring your transaction code to the counter.
Sport Liverpool membership has now moved to the Sports Centre. Membership of Sport Liverpool and one club costs £25, with each additional club added thereafter costing £15.
Application forms are available to download online or at the Sports Centre main reception.
The Foundation Building is the glass-fronted building on Mount Pleasant, over the road from the Guild. From here you can obtain:

Student support & International Support services are found in building 502 on the campus map, the entrance being found on Mount Pleasant past the Careers & Employability service. They offer information and advice and support with finance, disability, international students and welfare issues. For more information visit www.liv.ac.uk/studentsupport/index.htm. Appointments can be made with Maria Bird at the Base for Wednesday afternoons (1pm-3pm).

There are various university car parks around the campus, the nearest being located outside the Guild & Sports Centre & on Mulberry Street. Visitor car parking is currently charged at the following rates, or as displayed in the car parks. Payment is made on foot at the payment machines located in each visitor car park.
Peak (Monday to Friday, 07:30 - 17:29)
0 - 1 hr: £1.00
1 - 2 hrs: £2.00
2 - 3 hrs: £3.00
3 - 4 hrs: £4.00
Over 4 hrs: £5.00 (This fee buys up to 17:30, evening rates apply after)
Off-peak rates apply for entries made after 17:29.
Off-peak (Monday to Friday 17:30 - 07:29 next day)
